Last weekend the Misses and I went to a local hot spot to check check out Rosie Thomas who’s music we both enjoy. She played a 45 minute set and sounded great. Rosie Thomas has a new record out, “These Friends of Mine”, which I recommend checking out.
The surprise of the night was a local artist Alela Diane who performed before Rosie. She combines a clean folk sound with intriguing lyrics, a guaranteed winner in my book. 🙂 I picked up her current record, “The Pirate’s Gospel”, and it is a good listen. I look forward to hearing her new record coming out later this spring.
Lastly, Dolorean has a new record out, “You can’t win.” I’ve only had a chance to listen to it a hand full of times, but it is a nice evolution from their previous records. One song, “Buffalo Gal”, is particularly haunting.
If you enjoy mellow ‘folkie’ music, it’s worth taking a moment and checking out these artists.
cheers, will
