fish tank stand – take 2

June 27th, 2004

Hi All,

I’ve finally gotten some picts posted of my new fish tank all set up and in place. I only have 4 Serpae Tetras at the moment because the tank has only been set up for 2 weeks and I want to avoid NTS. We’re very happy with the way it turned out and it looks darker in real life than in the pictures because the lighting in our living room is minimal at best.

In other news, I’ll be at WWDC next week so look for the redhead, probably hanging out with another redhead that looks very similar, and you’ll probably be looking at Wade and I, so swing by and say hi. 🙂

cheers, will

Airport Express

June 8th, 2004

Apple has once again taken the ordinary (ethernet to 802.11 adapter) and tweaked it to make it extraordinary. I have wanted this product since Airport originally came out. I tend to listen to my music while I’m working on my portable computer in the living room, but in the past I had to either a) listen to CDs or b) run a 1/8″ pin to RCA to my stereo from my laptop. Neither were ideal, so I ended up getting an iPod and a Navipod remote and programmed my learning remote to run it (following after Wade’s success with it). The bad thing is it doesn’t navigate the iPod’s menu structure, it can only do the basics: play, stop, forward and rewind. With the Airport Express you do all your DJ’n from iTunes so you’re golden as long as you have a portable handy. As far as I’m concerned, the print server, repeater and portable wireless router are just added bonus’. If only it came out 8 months sooner….

cheers, will
